Abu Jafar Abdallah ibn Muhammad al-Mansur free essay sample

Abu Jafar Abdallah ibn Muhammad al-Mansur had lived between 712 and 775 AD.   Though he was born of a slave woman, he was regarded by the Islamic people for being the second caliph and founder of the Arab Abbasid dynasty.   He was his brother (Abu al-Abbas al Saffah) successor in the quest to destroy the Umayyads dynasty and the founding of Abbasid dynasty during 749 AD.[1] Abbasid Movement was originated from Iraq, which came about as early as eight century when these group of people through the leadership of Muhammad ibn Ali and Ibrahim ibn Muhammad thought of placing the caliphate in the hands of Prophet’s family.   This was accounted by Matthew Gordon in his book, which says, â€Å"Authority over the umma belonged to the chosen one from the family of the Prophet.†[2] Many became leaders of the Movement but Ja’far Abdallah ibn Muhammad al-Mansur was given much account for his accomplishments in the history of Arab countries. Where, when and into what family he/she was born? Abu Jafar Abdallah ibn Muhammad al-Mansur was a descendant of Prophet Muhammad through his uncle who came from Alid family.   He was born in 712 AD at al-Humaymah by a Berber slave woman; his father was a great grandson of Abbas.   Very little were accounted in the life of Al-Mansur as a young boy.   However, the existing cultural values of that time molded his life as a boy who never learned to give up or surrender.   He had some pride being a descendant of the Prophet, and possessed valiant character because of the influence of Islam faith on him; for them dying for what you fight for is a kind of heroism. His free-spirited consciousness was from his mother who was a Berber slave from North Africa. What were his accomplishments? Al-Mansur though a transitional figure of that significant event, carried out the final destruction of the Umayyad clan in 750 AD.   Abu Ja’far al-Mansur in his reign from 754 to 775 AD was recognized for being the proper person who established the new dynasty.   According to Matthew Gordon, he was responsible for â€Å"the consolidation of Abbasid authority.†[3]   He was also seen as the leader who established Baghdad as the capital of the region in 760s. This transformation of the region had complement in the new image of the area as the premier commercial and cultural center of the Near East and Mediterranean worlds being â€Å"fitting site for the dawn of a new imperial era.[4] Al-Mansur was also successful in restoring order in some areas where Umayyad family resided such as in North Africa in 772.   Within his reign, he was able to reorganize his administration; he created different offices and ministries under his authority.   There was great order during his rule although, many attempts of siege had taken place but to no avail. Other accomplishment he had during his sovereignty were the improvement of the economy of his dynasty and flourishing of Persian literature. What was the relationship between your character and society in which he/she lived? Living during that era was like survival of the fittest; in which if one wishes to continue to exist he must be strong.   There were conflicts all over to expand territories and kingdoms.   This part of the world was as well in great effort for survival.   In one instance, they had to clash against Byzantines to defend their territory. Aside from that, their faith had contributed to his ideology.   For them, killing an enemy is god’s will, and he will reward those who do for the sake of protecting the faith and country. Throughout his time in power, he struggled hard to take control of the supremacy of the region, and with that, he had to face battles against numerous forces who tried to overrule him.   However, the most challenging event in the life of Al-Mansur was his dealing with rebellions inside his administration.   At first, he had many allies who turned to be his enemies due to envy.   Most prominent to these names were Al Muslim and Muhammad b Ibrahim, while Shiite group and his uncle were also among them.   Throughout his struggle to establish peace in his empire, he had to be vigilant and unyielding in his judgment. The first man of his army who turned against him was Jahwar for fear of punishing him for collecting treasures from the camp.   Al-Mansur then killed him after many attempts to escape.[5] Abu Muslim was assassinated at Al-Mansur’ command, which he exclaimed, â€Å"Keep hitting! May God cut your hands off (if you don’t)!†Ã‚   In one source Abu Muslim cried, â€Å"Commander of the Faithful, spare me for your enemy’s sword.† But Abu Jafar retorted, â€Å"For what enemy have I more treacherous than you?†[6]   However, Al-Mansur did everything to win back the loyalty of Abu Muslim’s army.   This event as recorded by McAufliffe, was to present Al-Mansur’ intelligence to maintain his kingdom in the midst of struggles. Why You Don’t Have to Be a Great Writer to Be a Successful Writer

Im not the best writer. Heck, I know Im not the greatest writer out there either. But, many new writers think or feel they need straight As in English or to major in Journalism to be a freelance writer. But, thats not the case. Online writing is much different than writing for print magazines or publications. While having the formal training in writing can totally help you with your freelance writing gigs, it isnt essential for you to start or succeed. Im a successful writer in spite of my non-journalism background. My background is in Psychology and education. I ghostwrite for top influencers in the blogging industry, write for popular blogs like Blogging Wizard and OptinMonster and recently landed a Huffington Post contributorship. All because Im not the greatest writer. So, why dont you need to be a Pulitzer prized writer to write for businesses? Your Clients Want Results Not Degrees Many entrepreneurs or small businesses arent concerned if you have formal training. What they are concerned with is   results and that means exceptional posts, not degrees. If you dont already know, around 50% of your web visitors can read at an 8th grade level. So, if youre writing at a college level for your clients, you could be turning off half of their audience. So, what do clients really care about when they hire a freelance writer? 1. Can You Write For the Web? Online clients want to know that you can write for the web. What does this mean? It means, can you write in a conversational tone? Online writing is easy to read, isnt filled with difficult words or fluff, and provides value to the reader. Writing blog posts also comes with its own set of formatting rules. When I write blog posts, I write short paragraphs, short sentences, and I structure my writing with subheadings. You can also add bullet or numbered lists to further break up your post. Blog writing is something I teach extensively in my Writeto1k course since this is the bulk of writing that I do and its highly lucrative. 2. Are You Confident in Your Abilities? Confidence is hard to come by when youre new to something. When I first started Applied Behavior Analysis for children with autism, I remember driving to work with sweaty palms. I was fearful that I wouldnt do a good job or that the child I was working with wouldnt progress. It was the same when I started freelance writing. I almost quit because of the fear. But, the one thing that helped me through it all was knowing that I had to keep putting myself out there no matter what. Whether it was pitching or guest posting, I knew that if I kept going with it, I would no longer be a new freelance writer. So, you see, even if you are a newbie and lack confidence, you just have to put that aside and start. Pitch a guest post idea, create your writer website, or ask your friends and family if they need a content writer. Clients want a confident writer that understands their services and can produce stellar content. When I landed my first gig, I didnt have any samples to show in the prospects niche. But, my confidence and how I was able to relate to the job posting probably helped in my favor when the prospect had to make a hiring decision. 3. Do You Have a Social Presence and Connections? Many writers dont think they need to be on social media or have a website to be a freelance writer. But in my opinion, to be a successful and in-demand writer, you do need to be on social media and you do need a writer website. I learned that quickly once I started landing jobs on Twitter and LinkedIn. Social media is the perfect place to grow your blog, showcase your work, and connect with prospects and businesses. You dont have to be on all the top social media profiles. I suggest you start with LinkedIn and Twitter. From there you can set up a Facebook fan page as a way to make more connections. Youre Running a Business You dont need to be a great writer, but you do need to know how to run a business. Freelance writing is a business not a hobby. Youre not going to always write about your favorite topics, or have weeks or months to perfect your piece. And youre not always going to have the choice on how you will write your pieces. Freelance writing means deadlines, editing, citing sources, keywords, copywriting and much more. Clients hire you to either help them free up more time or help them improve their conversion rate. So, what does it mean when you have a freelance writing business? 1. You Need to Market Your Services A popular saying among freelancers is you always gotta be hustling. Since you are the boss, its up to you to find freelance writing jobs. So, that means you need to always be marketing. There are several ways you can market yourself: Guest posting is a great way to show prospects you are credible, able to write and know your niche Comment on blogs you want to write for or that are in your niche. A prospect may see your comments and decide to get to know you better. Follow prospects on social media. Get on the radar of top businesses you want to write for. Have an email signature. When you work on your pitching and sending off those emails, you can be assured that prospects can quickly find out about you from your signature. So, even if you are complacent with a handful of clients, know it can all change. You can lose all your clients or the client that gives you the most work decides to take a break for six months. Its better to have too many clients than not enough. 2. Wow Your Clients I talk about this a lot in many of my blog posts.   Going the extra mile for clients can pay off big time. Just the other day I had a business contact me who told me they were referred from another client of mine. I told this business that I did have an opening. I wrote an ad hoc piece and then the client asked me if I could write more: So, if you impress your client on the first writing piece, it can turn into regular income for you. And this isnt unusual for me. Prospects contact me all the time for ad hoc pieces which end up turning into consistent gigs. 3. Professionalism Since youre running a service-based business, being professional is key to your growth as a freelance writer. This might mean exceeding your deadlines or always being available for emails or just formatting your blog post correctly. For me, I answer my clients emails promptly, often upload my pieces to their CMS, and correspond professionally. This might be common sense, but there are writers out there that dont think its important to be prompt or follow your clients requests. If You Enjoy Writing Youll Probably Love Freelancing Its as simple as that. If you know how to write well, then you can definitely be a freelance writer. Its okay if you make editing mistakes, misspell words or have a lousy writing process. There are tools to help you with all that! So if being the best writer is stopping you from becoming a freelance writer, then know it doesnt have to be that way. You can get started today and be successful in a short amount of time! In the 1950s the first accuring subliminal messages were delicious buttery popcorn and cold refreshments that appeared just quick enough that it could reach your subsconcious mind. What a coincedence that these specific images were shown, with a conviently placed reshreshment stand near by. For reasons unknown, the Disney movies have created virtually unoticable inuendos promoting sexual subjects. Many question why these crude things are scattered through the media directed towards youthful audiences. This sparks worry that maybe modern motion pictures have taken a turn for the worse. Why would advertisement take advantage of the population? Possibly to make a profit. So if the production campanies are primarily interested in the net profit, and now advertisement has stepped in attepting to capatilize off the viewers as well, has film truly changed for the better or worse? Did this simple idea of entertainment snow ball into a money hungered multi-billion dollar industry? Some would admit theyve lost hope and no-longer see the positives of motion pictures anymore. Yet others are hopeful, and excited to see whats next in the world of film. One can only hope another cinematic revolution changes things for the better.

Board of Education (of Topeka) where Oliver Brown challenged and conquered racial segregations in American schools in 1954 (Miller, 2004). Yet, until the middle of the 1970s, individuals with disabilities did not benefit from the so-called free education. In 1972, a court ruling in Parc v. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania had to decide that children suffering from... The essential steps of aprojectinclude beginning, planning, execution,monitoringandcontrolling, and closing (Abushaiba Zainuddin 2012) As a project leader the university needs to learn the execution plan of the project. Monitoring and controlling of the project is also necessary for a successful closing. The role ofprojectmanageris important toprojectaccomplishment (Ahmed et al. 2013). Judie Key is the project manager. She is in charge of planning and leading the project. She needs to execute, monitor and control the project in order to successfully accomplish the project. Thirty four partner universities made a consortium to make national WIL portal. When the portal will be finished they will also be benefitted by this project. Australian Collaborative Education Network (ACEN) will provide the national doorway for industry and community into the universities. Structure of the PMP Organisational culture and the methodology determine the formation of the PMP (MGT8022, P56). PMP should be significant to its intended audience. According to the functional area and difficulty of the project, project management diagram contents will differ (PMBOK Guide 2004). Actually there are no rigid rules as MGT8022 discussed (p56). The PMBOK described (p89) that the PMP can be either summarised or detailed and it can also be consists of one or more subsidiary plans and other mechanisms. Project Benefits The payback that can be anticipated from the project. 4. Project Scope Project team will be focused and on task with project scope 5. Project Time Schedule Time Schedule tells when each activity should be done. 6. Project budget summary For accountability reason 7. Quality To ensure quality across the project 8. Project roles and responsibilities Define the roles and responsibilities of the project members 9. About the risk management plan To minimise or avoid the risk this plan is done 10. Contents of the major sections of the PMP Customer satisfaction is the main condition for in general project achievement and  content design goals is the next (Mà ¼ller Jugdev 2012). In this PMP customer satisfaction should comes first before making contents of the PMP and contents should be design according to customer satisfaction. The content of project management differs depending upon the relevance area and difficulty of the project (Institute 2013). The elements of the main sections of the PMP would again rely on the organisational culture and methodology. The contents size depends on the particular project requirements. The contents of the national WIL portal PMP document are explored at the below table. MGT8022 course material is used as theoretical framework in the following table columns. Introduction is not supported by PMBOK. As a methodology PMBOK does not support introduction in any section. PMBOK suggests overview or executive summary of the project. The Victoria university portal project starts with introduction but it would be better if it started with executive summary or overview. Key personnel involved in the project are key stakeholders and team members (Turner 2008). The interest of the project creates a negative or positive outcome of the project. If the stakeholders are against the project they will not wilfully involve in the project. Project team members is vital for project performance, achieving information sharing is still tough (Han Hovav 2013). Team members must be trained how to work together and correspond with others effectively (Tseng Yeh 2013). Projectmanager (PM) capabilities are essential inproject accomplishment (Chipulu et al. 2013). In the Victoria university project there are many parties involved as various stakeholders, it would be a crucial task to make all of them happy. One of the disputes that one face when running aprojectis improbability. This differs fromprojecttoproject. The Risk  Management  process include identify, assess, plan, implement, and communicate (Hinde 2012). Appendix G discussed about the risk management process, here in the case of Victoria university risk assessment based on four major criteria. It is also noted that risk management will be reviewed periodically and, if necessary new things will be added to the process. The  project  schedule  is the complete duration of theprojectwork, including the project management work, in order to generate the project scope (Phillips 2010). In the WIL project start date and end date are given but it would be better if a Gantt chart was given. The project scope is no longer a unimportant assessment (Là ©ger et al. 2013). Manage through a breakdown formation, focus on outcome, balance objectives and levels of ambition and keep it easy are the four principles of scope management (Turner 2008). National WIL portal PMP described various scopes of the project but it would be better if key milestones are given in chart that would be more visible. Quality management process systems are the central part and information warehouse for making any decision regardinga course of action (Ul-Hasnain, Waqar Shahbaz 2012). Quality management process of the WIL project is discussed in appendix C elaborately. Project roles and responsibilities are discussed in appendix D with a chart. Project budget is very important because it identifies the financial resource of that project will use. project is successful when it is delivered on-time, on-budget (Ellis Berry 2013) . Project budget is discussed in the page number eight of the PMP plan as a summery but it is also noted that budget is a sensitive issue. Everybody involved in the project may not have the same interest on budget; the funding party DEEWR has the most interest on budget. Project Communication (PC) pursues regular procedures and guidebook, as Project Management conducts within restrictions of budgets and deliveries (Rajhans Shah 2012). If communication breaks down during any of the stage of project accomplishment, it generates a lot of obstacles and ruins the smooth performance of the whole project (Rajhans Shah 2012) . Appendix D also discussed about the communication plan of the project. Communication plan described the type of information to be communicated and the medium of the communication. This chart shows how all parties involved in the project will be communicated. Although project benefit is discussed in WIL portal project, it is not suggested by Project Management Institute or any authors to include in it project content. Basically, project benefit may be discussed in business case. In this particular case Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) the funding authority of the project may have particular interest of this project benefit. Four requirements are essential for effective control of the PMP. Monitoring and reporting of the results, comparison results with the plan and forecast future results, plan and take effective action to improve the main plan – these three are discussed in WIL project plan but potential work and estimate performance are missing from the content of project (Turner 2008). One means to improve success of theseprojectsis adequatecontrol. WIL Portal PMP Section Discussion of the Section Contents 1. The lecture material covered in the module and also the information suggested in the PMBOK are covered in the documents. The total number of stakeholders is given in the PMBOK. Project management team are also integrated in communications plan. The risk management plan and risk register were arranged in the PMP. There is one inconsistency in the Appendix E with work breakdown structure. It would be better if explained in milestone chart. A Gantt chart describing the schedule of the project task has not been given. Recommendations: After the analysis following recommendations are given: To confirm good capacity of the management an appropriate work breakdown structure should be added in the PMP. More in depth budget presenting the cash flowed costs of the project should be given. Project manager will be benefitted to observe the costs of the project. More standard Gantt chart should be incorporated to demonstrate the intended scheduled of the project. The main idea planned in the PMP should be added to the risk register. The reason behind is that if these assumptions are not correct then the project would be at threat All schedules must recognize the time restrictions and, if possible, should recognize those funds vital for all event Plan future work and estimate performance should be added in project control.   Ã‚   The long-standing prohibition against recreational use of cannabis in the United States should be repealed. In addition, the penalties for possession and trafficking of cannabis should be abolished, and cannabis should be taxed and regulated by the federal agency that controls the other recreational, legal, yet addictive and potentially injurious substances tobacco and alcohol (the ATF). Cannabis has been illegal since the Marijuana Tax act of 1934. Yet of a population of 284 million (2000 U.S. Census), 70 million Americans claim to have smoked cannabis at some point in their lives [NORML]. Prohibition of cannabis is therefore apparently ineffective at changing the habits of a population, just as prohibition of alcohol was ineffective in 1919-1933. Making otherwise law-abiding citizens fugitives does nothing more than fill the prisons and alienate the populace from their government. In fact the total cost to taxpayers of solely marijuana-related incarceration (in local, state, and federal prisons and jails) of 15,400 people exceeds $1.2 billion per year. That one billion does not include what it costs to investigate, arrest, and prosecute the "hundreds of thousands of marijuana users arrested every year" [Hall]. Three and a half million people were arrested for marijuana offenses during the 8 years under President Clinton! [NORML] More than double the same period bef ore his presidency. Hall goes on to quote a report by the National Academy of Sciences: "there is little evidence that decriminalization of marijuana use necessarily leads to a substantial increase in marijuana use." Gournay’s 2000 strategy was a new life for The Body Shop. After some mistakes due to bad choices and a lack of experience in the cosmetic industry P. Gournay planed a real revolution in The Body Shop organisation.In a result of this revolution, profits rose by ? 9 million to ? 271 million compared with the same period in 1999 and most of his objectives were achieved. These elements show a very good execution of his strategy. It is always easier to plan a strategy but the implementation of it relieve to strong efforts in leadership and management. The organisa tional changes that is to say the restructuration as well as the decentralization of the company were very good strategic changes. It permits to share the responsibilities and to involve more the employees in this new strategy. P. Gourmay is a strong leader, he had the capacity to believe in The Body Shop future and to be fast to react.It understood the needs of the markets in creating new products as well as new services as home selling. They have services as home selling and massages in their shops.With ageing of population and the importance of well being nowadays, customers have strong expectations in terms of quality and excellence. The sustainable development is a recent value in our society and customers expect companies as The Body Shop to r espect it. The Body Shop is a good retailer; it has manufacturing partners in each of his four region area. This organization has the capacity to create new 100% natural products and to be involved in social causes. †¢ A strategic vision concerns a firm’s future business path — â€Å"where we are going† The Body Shop should gain market share and extend his leadership position in the cosmetic industry worldwide. It will be interesting for The Body Shop to realize alliances with big actors of the cosmetic industry. ? Increase net profit margins from 2% to 4% As we can see in The Body Shop case, that during Christmas period they have interesting margins. To gain market share, they should use this element and work on it in order to be recognize as a leader in the natural cosmetics industry.
